In one of his monologues, Jerry Seinfeld once said that more people were scared of public speaking than of dying. So at a typical funeral, more people were willing to swap places with the person in the coffin than the person giving the eulogy. This always struck me, though scarily accurate, as extremely absurd. After all, a public speaking gig is temporary; unlike death, it is finite in nature. So you really should ask yourself - what about it is so darn scary? And be honest with yourself about the answer. Also, think about this nervousness as a tool to motivate you to prepare more for it. Another good exercise is to practice in front of a person you trust to give you some constructive criticism.
