If you're lying down in front of the sun, make sure you're wearing a sunhat (or something) otherwise it can fry/damage your hair.

well in the shower just use a small amount of shampoo on you scalp and just squeeze the rest off down to the long part of your hair, and ONLY use conditioner on the long part of your hair. if u have oily hair do not use any grease of any styling gels, cremes, foams in you clean hair. if you later staighten your hair use a heat protectant, i use 44 IRON GUARD from CHI, a thermal protection spray. to see more info for use, here is the link for you to read and look over. http://www.ehow.com/how_2205090_keep-hair-healthy.html

I recommend brushing it before you wash it (before it's even wet.) Wash it gently around the crown, it doesn't take much shampoo to get the job done. Rinse, repeat if necessary. Follow up with conditioner and let it have time to do it's job. When you comb it afterwards, only use a wide toothed comb. Before applying heat have a conditioner or heat protector applied to your hair. If you color it often (like me!) make sure you're using color-treated hair shampoo and a an equally as nourishing conditioner. (Use decent hair products!) Give it time to rest between dye jobs/bleach jobs.
