Your parents are probably annoyed because you didn't tell them and they don't want anything to happen to you. All you have to do is promise that you'll smoke moderately and will keep your cigarettes away from them. This means don't smoke inside the house or in the car as it can cause passive smoking. It may take a while for them to deal with the thought of their daughter smoking but you're not underage so it is legal.
My parents have just found out I smoke and they're really annoyed. How can I make them accept it and allow me too? I'm above the legal smoking age and live with them

i agree with Punky. But would like to add that as a smoker you will not smell your smell. Cig smells when your outside side come back inside with you. My parents banned me from smoking within 500yrds of the house, they made me wash my hands and change my clothes when i got back into their house. I've now given up and a family friend is staying with us and she smokes and the stench is more than i ever released !!
