I have so far put in a bottle of boiled water and a blanket, it is tied to the legs of a chair in an accessable spot incase the elderly lady i live with falls while I am out of the house. She need a lot of meds and is type two diabetic, but we have dogs so i am concerned whatever goes in needs to be dog proof. any idea's welcome.

Ify ou believe there is a serious chance that she might fall, then you should encourage her to wear one of those alarms around her neck at all times. It will reassure both of you.

I agree with the above. Contact your local council for information about a community alarm, which is worn around the person's neck. When they need assistance they press the button, which connects to either a main contact (you, family member, neighbour, etc) or connects to a call centre where they can send out an ambulance after speaking to the person by a speaker phone, which is connected to the phone line. It costs roughly £45 per quarter, but is worth the money as it can save lives.
